Was telling friends earlier today that it feels really good to be back to the recording work. I haven't been able to function in my studio for months. The attic (yes, my studio is in the attic) had become a dumping ground for piles of files and household stuff from my late parents, my wife's late parents, and other crap collected over too damn long. A recent carpentry project involving the rafters forced us to clear the place out, down to the bare floor in places. My recording gear had to be completely unwired and removed. All the furniture pushed aside.
I know, right?
But as of yesterday, it's all back together, and arranged a bit differently than it was. Better, hopefully. I can tell you that the cable management is considerably better now. The studio feels more purpose-built, and not something cobbled together in a spare corner.
My attitude is more upbeat, too. I'm seriously psyched to finish these five songs. Way more than I have been over the last couple of years, and this feels like a refreshing new optimism coming on. Let's hope it stays.
